Public FAQ's
How can I participate in the Farm to Forest Plein Air Festival?
The public can register to participate in several festival events, such as the Quick Paint Challenge and Plein Air Workshop with Phil Sandusky. Prefer to observe? Head to the Alexandria Zoo on Wednesday afternoon to see artists painting your favorite animals, or visit our tent at the Alexandria ArtWalk on Saturday to view artists demos and peruse art for sale from festival week. Enjoy food, drinks, and art during the Final Event and Awards ceremony on Sunday. Meet the artists, enjoy tasting some of Alexandria’s most popular food, vote for your favorite cocktail and browse all the paintings completed during the festival.
Additionally, you can host an artist! If you’d be interested in hosting a visiting artist, please email us at olivia@themuseum.org for more information.
Will this be an annual event?
Yes! The Farm to Forest Plein Air Festival will be an annual occurrence which we hope to grow in the coming years.
How can I buy art?
Art can be purchased in several ways:
At the Museum: Artists will be hanging up work as it’s completed throughout the week in the museum’s media room and café area.
- For new collectors, the Small Wall in the lobby of the museum will have smaller pieces at an introductory price point. Check in throughout Festival Week for new additions!
Off the Easel: If you come across an artist at work and love what they’re working on, you’re welcome to buy off the easel. Call the museum to process payment.
Commission: If you’ve got a special spot you’d like commemorated in paint, you can commission a painting from any of our visiting artists. Payments must be processed through the museum.
Final Event and Sale: All available work will be viewable on Sunday, at the Final Event and Awards Ceremony. Food and drinks will be included with your ticket.
What are the price points?
Each artist sets their own price. Please visit the museum during the festival to view available works.
